Welcome to the Hartford, Michigan web site
Take a
look at our community . . .
we think you're going to like us.
Hartford, Michigan,
located in Van Buren County, is a small
hometown community, nestled in a
variety of
agricultural
farms and several lakes within a few miles. With direct access to I-94, it's
only a short drive
to the big cities for colleges, universities, entertainment and shopping
malls - just
20 minutes from
Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, 40 minutes to Kalamazoo.
And.... we're only 1 1/2 hours from
Chicago and about 3 hours to Detroit. After a busy day in the city,
return home to a serene countryside of horses, pole barns,
luscious blueberries and strawberries, fruit orchards, vegetable fields, and
awesome seasonal views from atop of historic Webster Hills. Chicagoans have long been
known to escape the stresses of city life by locating their summer homes in
the township or on one of several lovely area lakes. Housing is
affordable and city amenities are nearby. CSX Railroad runs through
our community, with an AMTRAK depot stop located about 10 miles north of
Hartford in Bangor. We are fortunate to have our own local 56k
dialup internet service provider, as well DSL high
speed internet service available. A cell tower, located along I-94,
connects Hartford to the world of cellular wireless phone service.
Hartford isn't a highly cultural or architecturally "beautiful" community,
but it is a good place to raise a family and we are blessed with a special
hometown spirit that city folk often dream
about.
We love our kids, churches, schools and
everybody
packs into the football stadium
for Friday night football games to cheer our awesome
Hartford Indians
on to another victory.
Our Mission
Our goal is to
bring together all of the diverse aspects of the City of Hartford and
Hartford Township to create a

to raise
the flag for the first time at the new City Hall in Hartford, MI.
