Meeting Minutes
December 11 , 2007

Meeting called to order by Sefcik at 12:05 pm

Minutes of November 13,
2007 meeting to be approved at January’s meeting.
Treasurer's Report
Checking acct balance is
$2,530.76. The State Chamber membership bill is due in the amount of
$295.00, a check to Rios for two hours work (mailing) and a check to Moody
to cover the gift certificates for the holiday extravaganza.
Motion by Sefcik, seconded by Vawter to pay
bills as presented and accept the treasurer’s report.

Motion by Rios, seconded by Thornburg to let the CD roll over for another six
months (will mature in June 2008) with the understanding there may be a small
penalty if withdrawn early to cover Strawberry Festival expenses.

Discussion

Discussion of shop
local campaign, Holiday Extravaganza for November/December 2007, a
committee of Moody, Nye and Rios. Posters and buckets have been
completed; buckets will be placed at National City Bank, Kellogg’s
Hardware, and Harding’s you will enter for a chance to win a gift
certificate from a chamber members business. Customers can put in a name
and phone number or business card. Chamber members and board members are
also eligible. Advertisement on the sign in front of Kellogg’s.
Advertisement on Miller Thermometer sign, Cosy 93, and psa’s to the
Tri-City, Palladium, and Kalamazoo Gazette.

Sign insurance is
complete and paper work has been sent in to Insurance Management.

After Hours Events
and Committee – J & B’s front office will be Katie’s Closet with handmade
things for sale.

Committee – Darling and Rodney-Isbrecht accepted a three year term still
one seat to fill.

Bob
Barns from the American Legion has contacted the Chamber about having an
October Fest in 2008, the Chambers liability policy only covers the
Strawberry Fest event so if the chamber decides to participate there will
be some additional costs involved.
The Holiday Extravaganza had
373 participants, the winners to be printed in the Tri-City Record.
New
Business:
- Discussion
on signage approval for the winter season board art and the three Hartford
Chamber of Commerce signs. The winter season signs are done and will be
put up as soon as possible. Discussion on the three chamber signs font,
arrangements and what web address to include
www.hartfordmi.com or
www.hartfordmichigan.com. The
www.hartfordmichigan.com web site name was purchased by Sefcik and is
hosted by www.1&1.com, the discussion was tabled until the January meeting
when additional information can be obtained from City Nets, host and
provider of
www.hartfordmi.com. The three signs will cost approximately
$150.00 and can be completed in January as soon as the art can be
approved.
- By-law
changes for consideration: a) annual meeting; b) number of meetings board
must attend.

Preparations for the annual meeting: surveys, awards, invitations can be
included in the January’s Presidents letter.

Rodney-Isbrecht to adjourn the meeting at 12:30 P.M.
