Meeting Minutes

December 9, 2008
12:00 NOON
Hartford City Hall

Meeting was called to order by Sefcik at 12:00 P.M.  

Pledge of allegiance was said.    

Members Present:  Ackerman; Moody; Nye; Rodney-Isbrecht; Rios; Vawter; Sefcik; Sinclair

Members Absent: Darling;  

Motion by Sinclair, seconded by Sefcik to approve the minutes of the November 11, 2008 meeting with clerical changes, Huffman & Bowen have declined to represent the Chamber on the blueprints project and change Father Nyhuis to Pastor Nyhuis.  
                     Motion carried

Treasurer's Report

Ending balance of $2157.58.  $1,000 was issued to Tammy Ackerman for the purchase of the certificates Shop local campaign. 

Motion by Sinclair, seconded by Rios to pay bills as presented and accept the treasurer’s report. 
                      Motion carried

 Other Business   

Shop local campaign:  Ackerman is working on purchasing the gift certificates for the drawing.  Gift certificates will be drawn at the Christmas in the Park on December 13.  Some suggested certificates would be from S & A Automotive, National City, Hair Forum, Kellogg’s, Panel Room, and $100 from Harding’s. 

Blue Print for Michigan Downtowns:  Vawter and Sefcik attended.  The next meeting will be January 6, 2009 at 11:00am. at City Hall.

Shop with a cop donation: Good program that assists local children with Christmas.
          Motion by Rios, seconded by Sinclair to approve a $500 donation to the Shop with a cop program.
                        Motion carried

Nomination committee:  Sheila Nye, Tim Nyhuis and Tad Moody wish to be on the board for the next three year terms.  Terms will be voted on at the annual meeting in February. 

Christmas in the Park:  will be held Saturday, December 13 at 5:00 pm. The Lions club has everything ready for Christmas in the Park & the lighted parade.  They have had a request to sell tamales next year.     

Membership Dues:  to remain at $30.00 per year.   Billing will go out this month. 
           Motion by Sinclair supported by Vawter to leave dues at $30.00 per year. 
                        Motion carried            

Lions Club Christmas Baskets:  they are receiving a lot of requests for help and have increased the number of baskets they are giving out, the Lions Club has received notice they are getting Toys for Tots toys to be given with the baskets so donated toys will stay in the Hartford area.  They will also be giving out coats, hats and gloves from the Coat drive. 

Coat Drive:  Moody is still collecting gently used hats, coats, gloves which can be dropped off at Harding’s or Sinclair graphics. 

Annual Meeting:  Discussion on guest speaker, it was suggested to invite HyettPalma to speak on the Michigan Blueprints for Downtown while they are here.  Rios will check with the VBISD on available dates, menus, availability of the Panel Room and Keeler Keg.
