Meeting Minutes
December 8, 2009

Hartford City Hall
Meeting was called to order by Sefcik at Noon.
Pledge of allegiance was
said.
Members Present:
Ackerman; Darling; Moody; Nyhuis; Rodney-Isbrecht; Sefcik and Vawter
Members Absent: Nye and Rios
Motion by Vawter, seconded by Ackerman, to approve the agenda as presented.

Old business:

Nominating committee — one
seat open Ackerman is still working on getting a nomination.

Holiday Extravaganza -
Drawing is Saturday at
5:00pm. Volunteer needed to assist in logging the information.

Christmas in the Park, Sponsored by the Hartford Lions Club
December 12 will include a coat give away; bake sale; Santa; Lighted
Parade; chili cook-off; and the Chamber Holiday Extravaganza give away.
New
business:
-
Would like to have the Strawberry festival committee begin
talking in January about entertainment. Would like to keep the rides at
$1.00; the little smiley Choo Choo train will be $1,000 and have committed
to the 2010 festival; discussion on seeking additional funding through
grants and/or sponsorship and investigating marketing options, will
continue the discussion in January.

Van Buren county economic development corporation is having a
free business development workshop on December 11, at
8:30am at the VBISD
Conference Center.

Van Buren County is
proposing a nuisance dog ordinance; please send comments regarding the
ordinance to the County Board of Commissioners.

Annual dinner: February at
VBISD Conference Center. Will set the date at the January meeting,
Elections and best of business will be on the agenda for the annual
meeting, bring suggestions for a speaker to the next meeting or let Sefcik
know.

Membership billing will go
out this week. Sign billing has already gone out, $25 per/sign annually.
Need to address the empty space on the signs. Discussion on selling space
on the back side of the signs to chamber members.
Treasurer's Report
Bank balance at the end
of November is $6,462.15; one outstanding check made to Tammy Ackerman
for Holiday Extravaganza expenses, two bills to pay, $150.00 for surety bonds
covering up to 30,000 for the signers of the checking account and $295.00 for
the Michigan Chamber of Commerce annual membership.
Motion by
Rodney-Isbrecht, seconded by
Nyhuis e, to pay bills as presented and accept the treasurer’s report.

Vawter seconded by Ackerman, to adjourn the meeting at 12:40 P.M.
