Meeting Minutes

January 20, 2009

Hartford City Hall

Meeting was called to order by Sefcik at 12:05 P.M.  

Pledge of allegiance was said.    

Members Present:  Ackerman; Darling; Nye; Rodney-Isbrecht; Sefcik; and Vawter

Members Absent:   Moody; Rios; Sinclair 

Motion by Vawter, seconded by Sefcik to approve the agenda as presented.  
                        Motion carried 

Motion by Vawter, seconded by Sefcik to approve the minutes of the December 9, 2009 meeting as presented.                                      Motion carried

 Old business  

Treasurer's Report

Ending balance of $2003.58.  Memberships have begun to come in as well as monies for invoiced signage; the ending balance does not reflect the balance of the CD. Membership payments are coming in good, changing to an invoice system was a good idea.    

  Motion by Darling, seconded by Sefcik to pay bills as presented and accept the treasurer’s report. 
                        Motion carried

 Other Business   

Blue Print for Michigan Downtowns:  chamber members are needed to be at the February 3, 2009, 9am – 11am session at City Hall with HyettPalma.  Flyers for the February 3 Community Visioning Session are available for distribution.  Members attending were requested to complete a survey for the study.   

Annual Meeting:  date has been set for February 10, 2009 at VBISD, Panel Room has submitted a quote the menu which will be printed on the invitation, and Personal Touch Cakes will provide dessert. The sheriffs department will do a presentation on id theft, voting for “best of” will take place at the annual dinner.  Cost to the Chamber is $13 per/person, cost to members will be $14 per/person.    

Entrance signs:  Harford Outlet is not going to renew their sign, so there will be two to three spots available for rent.  Discussion on setting a policy to advertise on the entrance signs, currently there are non-chamber members advertising on the sign, it was suggested sending out in the next mailing or announced at the annual meeting that space would be available on the signs for first come, first served and begin a waiting list if there is more interested than the space available.   

         Motion by Ackerman, seconded by Nye, beginning October 2009 you must be a chamber member to have your business
         name displayed on the entrance sign.
                        Motion carried

Dates for 2009 Strawberry Festival will be June 12 -13.  A Strawberry committee meeting has been scheduled for January 27^th, 7:00pm at Hartford City Hall, please come and help in the planning of the festival.

• Tuesday,  February 3, 2009, 9-11 a.m. - Blue Print for Michigan Downtowns meeting at Hartford City Hall.
• Tuesday,  February 10, 2009, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Annual Meeting at VBISD.
