Meeting Minutes
July 8, 2008

Meeting called to order by Sefcik at 12:07 P.M.
Pledge of allegiance was said.
Members Present: Ackerman; Moody; Nye; Rodney-Isbrecht; Sefcik Members
Absent: Darling; Rios; Sinclair; Vawter;
Motion by Rodney- Isbrecht, seconded by Sefcik to approve the agenda as
presented.
Motion carried
Motion by Nye, seconded by Sefcik to approve the minutes of the June
10,2008 meeting as presented.

Treasurer's Report

Sarah Briley and Tammy Ackerman did a great job with the Prince, Princess and Baby contest, approximately $5,180 was raised.

Checking acct balance as of June 30, 2008 is $5,728.21.

Bills totaling $2,081.38 need to be paid, this includes strawberry festival expenses. The amount raised for the prince, princess and baby contest has not been included in balance.
Motion by Sefcik, seconded by Rodney- Isbrecht to pay bills as presented and
accept the treasurer's report.

Old Business

Strawberry Festival comments were favorable; liked the road not being blocked off, the park layout, bake off competition was well received, hula hoops competition needed additional hula hoops, had to turn people away, volleyball tournament raised approximately $272.00. The second place team did not pay the entrance fee and should be disqualified.

Negatives - a few complaints about not having a carnival.

A post strawberry meeting will be scheduled as soon as possible.

Sefcik is working with an individual from Michigan Works to apply for grants to help promote and fund the strawberry festival.

In the past donations have been made to the police reserves, fire department and boy scouts for their assistance during the Strawberry Festival.
Motion by Sefcik, seconded by Moody to donate $600 to the Hartford Police Reserves, $250 to the Hartford Fire Department and $250 to the Boy Scouts.

About three years ago the Strawberry Festival was running with no money, it was decided at that time by the Chamber to set aside funds in a CD in order to run the following years festival.
Motion by Sefcik to authorize Moody to deposit an additional $3000 in CD at National City Bank seconded by Nye

Sefcik expressed appreciation to Moody in getting the books and reports
organized.
Other Business

The business sign at West Main Street entrance was vandalized, someone took the four lower business signs off, a police report has been filed, should be able to repair the signs with glue.
Motion by Sefcik, seconded by Nye to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2008 & March 11, 2008 meetings as corrected removing Hansen's name off the March 11 minutes.

Shop local campaign was well received last year and would like to do that again this year.

Send out a certificate or thank you to Coca Cola for the juice boxes donated to the Strawberry Festival.

Would like to work with the Lion's club on the Christmas in the Park & Safety Jamboree

Would like feedback on moving the annual dinner to the community center this year.

Business sign at North Center entrance, delay on re-installing due to location & 50% deposit required, insurance covered the cost but the Chamber will need to pay the $1,000.00 deductible. A bill was received to replace the Chemical Bank Sign but it was done incorrectly. Sefcik will follow-up and report back at next months meeting.
