Strawberry Festival Report:   There were 9 applicants for the sweetest berry baby and 16 applicants for the prince and princess.   10 food and arts & craft vendors have applied so far.   Prices have been the same for the past few years, so far fund raising has been slow collecting. Matt King who does an Elvis and Roy Orbison act has been booked for the main stage Saturday night and John Dudley has agreed to Friday night.  Sinclair Graphics will be doing pre-sales for t-shirts and sweatshirts.

Discussion on printing brochures with the schedule, quote form Sinclair graphics is $129.50 for 1200 brochures.  Radio ads will not be available this year due to the radio station restructure.   The festival will cost the chamber some money this year.  Activities will cost a $1.  Hartford Motor Speedway would like to have the kids who were given bikes last year to ride them in the kiddie’s parade on Friday.  The library would like to do a book sale as part of the event; the chamber would like to have them in the park.   The library does not have the staff to have a sale at the park plus the library.  The library would like to be listed on the events schedule.  A strawberry short cake vendor has not been found yet, Ackerman will do some recruiting to see if there would be a group who would be willing to provide this popular booth, will also try for fresh berry’s for sale by the local farmers.   Dan & Vickie McFarland will be contacted to supply the pies for the pie eating contest. The festival will expand the hula hoop contest, strawberry bake off, and trying to arrange for a pumpkin carriage for the princess and prince to ride in.  The Pony Express is a go and will be coming from the Historical Museum this will be their 125 year anniversary, and they will be having their demonstration day the same weekend.

Motion by Nye, seconded by Rodney-Isbrecht to print & purchase flyers & 1200 brochures for the Strawberry Festival from Sinclair Graphics.
          Motion carried.   Sinclair to abstain.

Chamber signs:    received 2 quotes one from Hicks Sign Company for $5,832.91 and Anchor Signs for $3,550.00 for replacement of the sign at the East entrance to the City, Sefcik will contact Justin Noack to see if he would allow the sign to be erected on his property, which might be less likely to get hit or destroyed if it can be placed farther off the road.  The invoice will be submitted to the City for payment, with the remaining balance to be paid by the Chamber.

Motion by Sinclair, second by Ackerman, to have Anchor Signs replace the destroyed entrance sign.
          Motion carried

Concerts in the Park has requested a donation for this years concert series.  Last year $300 was donated.

Motion by Moody, seconded by Sinclair to give the Concerts in the Park a $300 donation.
                        Motion carried

Sinclair requested information from Emma Sefcik on how to get the Concerts in the Park events on the weekly events list at www.hartfordmichigan.com Sefcik will get back to Sinclair and let her know what needs to be done.

Emma Sefcik wanted advice concerning putting January’s minutes on the Chambers web site. She felt uncomfortable giving free advertising if business was not a chamber member.   Chamber said to leave this notation in the the January’s meeting minutes off the web site.

Motion by Sinclair, seconded Sefcik, to adjourn the meeting at 12:43 P.M.
