Meeting Minutes
June 9, 2009
12:00 NOON
Hartford City Hall
Meeting was called to order by Sefcik at 12:15
P.M.
Pledge of allegiance was said.
Members Present: Ackerman; Moody; Nyhuis;
Rodney-Isbrecht; and Sefcik
Members Absent: Darling; Nye; Rios; Vawter
Motion by Sinclair, seconded by Moody, to
approve the agenda as presented.
Motion carried
Motion by Sinclair, seconded by Ackerman to
approve the minutes of the May 11, 2009 meeting as corrected.

Strawberry Festival Report:
-
Ads have been running on the radio
-
The
schedule has been distributed and published on the web, flyers are printed
-
Have signed about 40 -45 vendors.
-
The Sheriff's Department is going to do
fingerprinting.
-
Vendors can begin setting up at 8:00am on
Friday. A&A Amusement rides will be $1.00 per/ride
-
Still
needing certificate of liability for rock climbing wall.
-
Expenses include A&A Amusement and train,
$1,000 each, entertainment - Matt King $1,200, John Dudley $400, Bethany Blue $200,
the
carriage has been paid for, still need to purchase a boy's & girl's bike and helmets, visa cards
- 8 @ $25
for basketball and hula hoop contest.

There was an article in Michigan
Traveler, and the Radio Station Y County will be broadcasting from 10:00 a.m.
- Noon in front of Ely Park.

The article in the Kalamazoo Gazette had
some misinformation which Emma was trying to get corrected.

Kiddies parade line
up will be Friday at 5:30pm on East Street.

There was some discussion on
weather the Chamber will be able to continue the Strawberry Festival in the
future.
Chamber signs: sign on the east entrance has
been installed; Anchor Signs needs to finish a couple of small items for the
Farm Bureau signs. Would like a two board member Committee to oversee the
signs and bring back ideas, the Road Commission does not like the placement
of the South Center Street and West Main Street sign placement, the committee
also needs to address the construction of the fourth sign. $25 per sign/per year and must be a chamber member to advertise on the Chamber sign.
Treasurer's Report
Bank balance end of April $6,173.49; deposits
have come in for the prince & princess fundraiser. No bills have come in for the Strawberry Festival
yet. CD is up for renewal 6/29/2009, $7,162.61, will use the funds in the
checking account until the CD expires. Bills to pay: Sinclair Graphics $225
for banners; radio ads $690.00; misc expenses
of $176.13 to Sefcik; and gift certificates for $150.00 from National City
Bank.
Motion by Ackerman, seconded by Nyhuis, to pay
bills as presented and accept the treasurer's report.
Motion carried.
Other Business
The Miss Hartford float committee has
requested a donation, in past years it has been $250.
Motion by Sefcik, seconded by Sinclair to
donate $250.00 to the Miss Hartford float committee.

The Chief Financial Officer from
Watervliet Hospital was present
to ask the Chambers support of a bill before Congress regarding Critical
Access which supplies emergency care to rural areas. This will mean an
additional million dollars from the Federal Government, so it's important to
e-mail your Congress Members and State Representatives in support of the
bill.
Motion by Nyhuis, seconded by Sinclair, to
adjourn the meeting at 12:40 p .M. Motion carried
