Meeting Minutes
September 11, 2007
12:00 NOON at Hartford City Hall
Meeting called to order by Sefcik at Noon
Pledge of allegiance was said
Members Present: Darling; Moody; Nye; Rios;
Rodney-Isbrecht; Sefcik; and Sinclair
Members Absent: Hansen; Vawter
Motion by Sinclair supported by Sefcik to
approve the minutes of the August 14, 2007 meeting. Motion carried
Treasurer's Report
The account at Chemical Bank has been closed and
accounts have been moved to National City Bank. Current checking balance
is $3,991.28 and a CD in the amount of $4,000.00
Motion by Sefcik supported by Sinclair to pay
bills in the amount of $65.55. Motion carried
Discussion
-
Discussion on participation in the
shop at home campaign with the Watervliet-Coloma Chambers as presented by
the Tri-City Record, the group felt the cost for the ads was more than
could be afforded at this time. The group came to a consensus a local
campaign could be run for a much lower cost. Please continue to submit
ideas and a decision will be made at the next meeting.

Motion by Rios supported Moody to
pay Emma Sefcik in the amount of $93.14 for letterhead, business cards
and president’s desk issues. Motion carried, Sefcik abstained.

Michigan Nonprofit Corporation papers were filled
out by officers and submitted with $20.00 filing fee.

Quotes and Information presented
on liability coverage and insurance for the four business entrance
signs. Motion by Sinclair, supported by Rios to renew liability
insurance through auto owners from Whelan & Company of Paw Paw for
$618.00. Motion carried.

Motion by Sinclair, supported by
Rios to purchase $20,000 insurance coverage for 4 business entrance signs
with a $500.00 deductible from Insurance Management Services of St Joseph
for $512.00. Motion carried

Discussion on the date for the
2008 Strawberry Festival. The Strawberry Run sponsored by the Lions Club
is June 14, 2008. HPS Graduation is June 8, 2008 and father’s day is on
June 15, 2008. In the past the Strawberry Festival has always been the 2nd
weekend in June. The consensus of the group is to leave the festival on
the 2nd weekend for consistency. Strawberry Festival will be
June 13 and 14, 2008.

Several sponsors are having a
safety jamboree in conjunction with the fire prevention parade on October
13, 2007, volunteers are still needed to help and there is no cost to
participate. Please contact Kim Sinclair for additional information at
621-3651.

Discussion concerning After Hours
events. A point person was discussed to contact chamber members and get
the events on the calendar maybe quarterly or two or three times per
year, please bring ideas to the next meeting.
Communications:

Received application to publish information
in the Shoreline Visitors guide for a cost. No interest expressed on
purchasing additional information in the guide.

Hope Center sent a thank you card and pictures for
donation made.

Niles Haunted House sent information for
distribution on the their 2007 season prices and hours of operation

Hartford Police Reserve Officers sent a
thank-you for donation made for working Strawberry Festival.
Motion by Sefcik, to adjourn the meeting at
12:57 P.M. Motion carried.
