Winter still has a hold on us, but Spring is coming and so is the 2007 Strawberry Festival.  At our first official meeting on March 6, 2007, we planned events and set up committees.  Many ideas were discussed and a number of new venues will be added.  Volunteers are needed for the kiddies parade on Friday, so if you are interested in heading up and/or working on that parade, please contact me or any other chamber board member.

☼  The next Strawberry Festival planning meeting is Wednesday, March 21st, 7:30 p.m. at Hartford City Hall.  The 2007 festival dates are June 7-10.  We are in need of volunteers to help plan children’s games and activities, adult-children’s music entertainment, arts and crafts vendor planning, fund raising, advertising, main street activities, etc.  The Strawberry Festival is a family affair and we want it to be enjoyable for all ages.                      

☼  The 2006 festival was a success because of the generous giving by our chamber members and the community.  A donation form will be mailed to all businesses and organizations to help cover festival general expenses and entertainment.  This form of solicitation worked well for everyone last year.  Cosy 98 has once again offered the radio advertising for business, organizations, and the festival.  The price will be the same as last year.   No other solicitation will be done by the Chamber.

☼  Congratulations to our 2007 Miss Hartford Blossomtime, Lindsey Sells and 2007 Miss Hartford Scholarship, Veronica Rodriguez.  Special C-o-n-g-r-a-t-u-l-a-t-i-o-n-s to Lindsey on being selected second runner up at Blossomtime.  The guys did a fine job, too, with the selection of 2007 Mr. Hartford  Blossomtime, David Short and 2007 Mr. Hartford Scholarship, Joey Najacht.  Our young people are among the area's best and we are all very proud to have them represent our community.  Click here to view pictures of our present and past Hartford Royalty online.

☼  Prince, Princess, and Sweetest Strawberry Baby pictures will be taken April 7th, 2007 by registration ONLY.  Deadline for signup is April 5, 2007.  Registration forms are available at various location in town, or click here to obtain a form from our website.  Please call Cindy Birmele with any questions at 621-4878.

☼  Chamber memberships expired on December 31, 2006.  If your business or organization’s name is NOT on the list below, we haven’t received your renewal.  The CoC designations in the Hartford Business Directory (click here to view the directory) on our website have been updated according to this list.  Our new 2007 Chamber brochure (which will also appear on our website) will be printed and distributed soon.  It’s not too late, send in your membership renewal payment today.   We’d be happy to reinstate your membership status or welcome new members.
