In looking back it seems that I missed a Presidents desk, sorry for that....just busy trying to catch up on my own business after the festival. Speaking of the Strawberry Festival, if you didn’t make it down to the park, you missed out on a great time and good food. The Strawberry Festival photos and slide show are still on our website www.hartfordmi.com and the link from the opening page will be available for a short while longer. A special thank you to all the volunteers for a job well done. We will start planning the 2008 festival in September, so watch for that date. ☼ Due to the resignation of Rich McDermott as V.P., the Chamber board is restructuring. Rich accepted a new position with National City and is no longer at the Hartford branch. Sheila Nye, the new manager at National City, has accepted a Chamber board position. At this meeting, the Chamber board will vote on Natalie Rios as V.P. and RoxAnn Rodney-Isbrecht as Secretary. ☼ The board will seek input from our members on a joint venture with the Coloma and Watervliet chambers about a "shop locally" campaign. It is in the discussion phase, however, a media campaign for supporting local merchants and businesses is a good idea. Please contact a chamber board member with your thoughts and ideas. More on this as time goes on. ☼ Please consider this an invitation to get involved with Neighborhood Watch. The simple act of getting to know your neighbors, watching out for - and reporting - suspicious activity has proven to improve the quality of life in communities all over the country. This can work in your neighborhood too. The next meeting is Wednesday, July 11th , 7:00 pm at City Hall. No speaker is planned for this meeting. There will be a brief discussion of crime trends and we will plan the August Picnic.
