Honoring Our Veterans

▪ Breakfast for parade participants 7-9 a.m. at the Hartford American Legion post

▪ Hartford Parade - 10:00 a.m.

▪ Ceremony in Ely Park 10:30 a.m. est.

▪ Keeler Parade - 12:00 p.m.  Starts at corner light and continues to cemetery.

▪  Memorial observance at Keeler cemetery immediately after parade. 

Hartford and Keeler have many military veterans our communities can be proud of....some who never returned after serving our country.  Read more about them in the Military section of the History of Hartford at www.hartfordmi.com.

Richard “magically” makes his accordion sound like a six to ten piece band, and includes a light show for your enjoyment.  His wide variety of music includes polkas, pop, oldies, and even a little country.  The Magic Accordion Show opened our 2005 concert series and is back by popular demand.

Concerts in the Park - 7:00 p.m. featuring WYSIWYG.  


A mix of classic rock, blues, contemporary and even a little country music.   The band includes Eric Oosterwal - guitar, Rick Redding and Roger Freepan - vocals, Ron Gallert - Bass guitar, Steve Pearson - guitar, Andy Reck - keyboard, and Mike Graf - drums.  They have played for numerous corporate events and festivals, including Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build.  What You See Is What You Get and what you get at this concert is a great band, and a good time!!  You'll love this group . . . music for everyone!

Concerts in the Park - 7:00 p.m. featuring Misfits - Comedy Chorus-Variety. 

Enjoy musical comedy and dancing.  You will love this chorus of approximately 35 performers, all dressed-up in their personally designed costumes, and directed by Joan Nozicka.  The Misfits have performed over 500 shows during their 12 years performing.  Their 2005 program included patriotic songs, military songs, and songs popular in the 40’s during World War Two.  

Regardless of what their program includes, they always bring smiles and laughter to their audience.

Do you enjoy the old favorite barbershop tunes, pop music, show tunes or patriotic music done in 4-part barbershop harmony?  If so, you will love this 37 member chorus directed by Gene Hanover.

The chorus received a tremendous honor in 2004 by representing the Pioneer District in the Small Chorus Contest at the world-renowned and prestigious Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.  Returning for their 3rd performance - everyone loves to hear this group perform!

This quartet includes three brothers and a friend, and has performed together since High School.  They are a very personable group who enjoy interacting with their audience.  If you think of barbershop music as being soft and quiet, just wait until you hear this upbeat quartet!!   This is bootlegg’s second year performing at the Hartford Concerts in the Park series, and everyone wanted them back!

Visit to Sarrett Nature Center - Bring a brown bag lunch and board the bus for a picnic at Sarrett Nature Center. We will have lunch on the lawn followed by a program and nature walk.

 

Concerts in the Park - 7:00 p.m. featuring AlpenSound

AlpenSound, under the direction of Bob Schneider, plays only authentic German musik.  There are some very, very unusual players in their band - puppets that play music!

This group loves audience participation and encourages everyone to get up and dance.  At last year’s performance, rhythm instruments were passed out to the audience.  If you enjoy playing the tambourine, washboard, or shakers along with the band, or just watching the puppets play an instrument, come on out for a great night of fun and musik!

For over 40 years Richard has performed in choirs, as half of a duo called Breezin’, directed church choirs and now is performing as a solo.

His repertoire is comprised of music from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s with some older and more modern selections included for variety.  Richard has performed many concerts in the Southwest Michigan area, such as the Brown Bag concerts in St. Joseph.

September brings the reminder of a tragic time for our nation - the 5 year anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

September 11, 2001 with a gathering.

Sarah Engle Rolback (HHS 1970) will NOT forget
 the dear friend she lost during the 9/11 attack.

A brief ceremony will feature music of the Hartford Indian Emerald Vanguard and leadership of the Hartford Boy Scout Troop 196. 

Everyone is invited to come together as a community and acknowledge this somber anniversary. 
Parents are especially encouraged to bring their children to this event. 
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held at the High School Auditorium.
