From the Day Spring of Jan. 4, 1911
Fire for a time this morning
threatened the Hartford House, one of the oldest and best known hostelries
in the state. The blaze originated on the third floor in a room used
as a storage room. Guest were thrown into confusion by the fire
alarm and came tumbling from their rooms. The floors of the hotel
were badly flooded by water. Joseph Cowle and W. G. Epley are the
owners of the hotel
