Anyone who ever lived in or passed through our rural community quickly recognizes the mansion as it greets homefolk and visitors to Hartford. Modern day Chicago-to-Detroit travelers catch a glimpse of the mansion’s majestic beauty as they pass by on a busy I-94 highway about 1/2 mile away. Construction on the 20-room mansion started in 1936 and was completed in 1936.
